What is the history of Tanaka Ichinoji Hamono Seisakusho?

The family line was founded by Tanaka Gentaro (田中源太郎), who began making sickles under the house name Gen (源). The business operated under the company name 田中勉鎌製作所 from 1946 and was renamed Tanaka Ichinoji Hamono Seisakusho (田中一之刃物製作所) in 2000.

Shigeki Tanaka's father was named Kazuyuki (一之), and Shigeki now heads the workshop. Earlier in his career, in 1996, he joined Shimizu Hamono (清水刃物) in Takefu, Fukui.
