히타치 메탈즈에서 생산하는 매우 인기 있는 스테인리스강입니다. 사카이의 많은 대장장이들이 은삼강을 사용한 칼을 제작하고 있습니다. 실사용 경도는 HRC 60~62 사이이며, 은삼강은 백2강에 상응하는 스테인리스 버전이라고 할 수 있습니다.
이 소재는 산마이 구조로 제작되었습니다. 즉, 은삼강 심재를 부드러운 스테인리스강으로 감싼 3겹 적층 구조입니다. 이러한 구조 덕분에 열처리 후에도 숫돌로 쉽게 연마할 수 있으며, 사용자가 칼을 얇게 갈아낼 때도 기계 대신 숫돌만으로 작업이 가능합니다. (기계 사용은 실용적이지 않으므로, 이것이 제가 PM 모노스틸 나이프를 크게 선호하지 않는 이유 중 하나입니다.)
